User GuideAssalam-o-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahe wa Barkatohu! We would like to welcome you to the new AMCUSA email system. This brief guide is designed to familiarize you with the system and to help you configure your software. On the last page of this package you will find attached your email address, password and other settings. This needs to be kept in a secure place. If you have any questions, please email us at: support@amcusa.org.
There are two primary methods of accessing the email system. The first method is via a web site interface similar to websites lilke Yahoo! or Hotmail. This is the easiest method because you do not have to additionally configure anything else on your system, you are already ready setup to use email this way. Our web email service is also encrypted using 128 bit SSL technology so it is more secure then other web email services available. The second way to access the email system is to use email client software and configure it to use the system as an IMAP service. The IMAP service is also configured to use the same 128 bit SSL encryption. You are also free to use both methods as well, for example you may want to use the Outlook on your PC at home but may need to check your email from work, and can use the web email client in this case. At this time we are recommending the web email service as the fastest and easiest way to use the system for all users. Power users who will be heavily using the system or are familiar and comfortable with email client software are welcome to setup and try the IMAP service. On the following pages you will find an easy to follow guide on how to use and or setup both systems. Many client software and platforms are available in the market today and you are free to use any of your choice. However please note that we cannot support all of the various client software / operating systems and therefore at this time we are recommending users have Windows XP, and use Outlook Express 6 as their mail client. For the web email service, we are recommending Internet Explorer 6. Inshallah, we will be providing around the clock support for the email service. This means that if you are having problems, you can contact us anytime and we will respond and address your inquiry as soon as possible. Note that if you are using software other then the recommended software, support will be on a “best effort” basis. Please email any questions you may have to: support@amcusa.org or call 425-818-0320. The Jama`at has set email usage policy for this system. You should be aware of the following restrictions:
